On July 7th, 2024, several members of the NEIT Lab participated in the Northrop Grumman University Research Symposium held in Bethesda MD, showcasing their latest research through poster presentations. Representing the lab were Kidus Guye, Vivek Manepalli, Roshith Mittakolu, Alexander Lyons, Iman Louise, and Giovanina Bell.

This opportunity came through our ongoing collaboration with Northrop Grumman on the development of microencapsulated phase change material (MEPCM) slurry-based microchannel liquid cooling systems. The partnership highlights the importance of academia–industry collaborations in advancing thermal management solutions for defense and high-performance electronics.

In addition to the student presentations, Prof. Damena Agonafer delivered a talk on the lab’s MEPCM slurry research and joined a panel discussion that emphasized the impact of university–industry collaborations. The panel highlighted how joint efforts not only accelerate innovation but also foster the creation of new intellectual property (IP) and patents that can shape the future of advanced cooling technologies.
