Thais Ferreira
Grad Student
Thais P. A. Ferreira earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UTFPR (Brazil) and obtained the title of Reliability Engineering Specialist from the same institution. She then pursued a Master of Science degree in Space Sciences and Technologies at ITA (Brazil), where her research involved the numerical simulation of a two-phase flow of R-134a, simulating conditions akin to Pressurized Water Reactors. Subsequently, she conducted research on convective boiling flow of CO2 in microchannels during her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at UFSC (Brazil). However, this project was temporarily halted, and in 2023, Thais began her doctoral studies in Mechanical Engineering at UMD, where she actively contributed to the AHX-PI lab and is currently affiliated with the NEIT lab. Her research interests include investigating various aspects within the domain of two-phase flow, such as boiling phenomena, critical heat flux, dryout, and strategies for enhancing heat transfer.
